Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita

A long period of falling birth rates has led to humans giving up large parts of the planet to other species that have moved in as the human population has dwindled. Faeries, small creatures about ten inches tall, now control much of Earth and show a level of intelligence that is unexpected for their size. A few humans still live among the remains of their former civilization. Watashi, a young woman, chooses to go back to her hometown to take over her grandfather's role as a mediator between humans and faeries. She quickly discovers that the position is far more difficult than she imagined, requiring a level of understanding and judgment that goes beyond her age.
