A covert organization known as Vesper employs powerful battle androids to combat an invasion by extraterrestrial forces. Mahoro, Vesper's most formidable android, has limited operational time remaining before she becomes inoperative. To extend her functional period, she is instructed to avoid combat and conserve energy, allowing her to remain active for slightly more than a year. Instead of continuing to fight, Mahoro is given the chance to experience life outside of battle. She decides to live as a domestic servant for Suguru, a high school student who lives alone after the death of his family.
