A scientist named Souzou Haran conducted research on Mars and developed self-thinking cyborgs called Meganoids. The Meganoids turned violent, killing Haran and his family except for his son Banjou, who was sixteen at the time. Banjou fled Mars on a rocket carrying a solar-powered robot named Daitarn 3, constructed from Martian metals. Now eighteen and living in a mansion on Earth, Banjou battles the Meganoids alongside his butler Garrison and two companions, Reika and Beauty. The Meganoids seek to transform all humans into cyborgs to "enhance" the species.
