In the year 5012, Earth is under attack by alien forces and their Machine Lifeforms, pushing humanity toward extinction. Survivors have relocated to the moon and use android soldiers to reclaim the planet. The conflict remains deadlocked as the Machine Lifeforms endlessly reproduce. A new line of androids, YoRHa, is introduced as a final solution. Android 2B is sent to Earth to join 9S, an analyst already stationed there, and together they face a range of enigmatic events. The narrative centers on these artificial beings and their unending struggle to secure a future for humans.
