During the An Lushan Rebellion in the Tang Dynasty, monsters roam the land and the people suffer in the Central Plains. Li Haobai departs from Bashu with the goal of reaching the front to earn recognition. Along the journey, he is consumed by a monster. By chance, he fuses with the guardian of the dragon’s veins and gains the power of the black dragon. This event draws him into conflicts among different factions.
