Chirico Cuvie, an armored trooper pilot, is ordered to transfer to Planet Odon and joins other recruits in a simulated battle meant to assess their skills. The simulation proves deadly, designed to eliminate those lacking the required abilities. Chirico survives, along with three others, even though he was injured during the fight.
