Takahashi Rumiko Gekijou: Ningyo no Mori

A legend claims that consuming mermaid flesh grants immortality. Five hundred years ago, Yuta accidentally ate some, and since then, he has wandered Japan in search of mermaids, hoping to reverse his condition. He eventually finds one who, along with her companions, has been raising a girl to consume her for immortality. Yuta kills the mermaids and rescues the girl, Mana, who has already eaten some of their flesh. Though he had to kill the mermaids, Yuta is not upset, as his long solitude ends with Mana by his side. Mana, who spent her life confined to a small hut, finds joy in simple experiences. Yuta and Mana now travel together, seeking more mermaids in an effort to regain their humanity.
