Demons and angels, long-standing adversaries, have agreed to a marriage between members of their species to promote peaceful coexistence. Jiacheng, a demon, and Yu Shanshan, an angel, were selected for this arrangement. They are given one year to live together, and if they fail to build a compatible relationship, the marriage will end. Both share the desire to dissolve the union, and they start their shared living situation with that mutual aim.
