This arc serves as a counterpart to the Watanagashi-hen, presenting similar events from Shion Sonozaki's viewpoint with slight differences. It reveals the criminal's motivation in the earlier arc as lost love. This is the first time Satoshi Houjou appears in person, as prior arcs only referenced him.
