Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners

A teenage girl has the supernatural ability to see the "death" of all things and destroy them by targeting their "origin." This power is known as the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception." She recently awoke from a two-year coma following a traffic accident. Before the accident, she had two distinct personalities: a male one named Shiki and a female one also named Shiki. In her family, children are typically male and raised with dual personalities, referred to as "yang" for the male and "yin" for the female. The two Shikis can be distinguished by their speech patterns, particularly the use of "watashi" by the female and "ore" by the male. After the coma, she no longer senses the male Shiki and believes he died in the accident. She feels disconnected from her past and no longer identifies fully with her former self. To cope, she adopts a cold demeanor similar to the male Shiki while attempting to embody the female. Another character, Tōko, acknowledges her sense of detachment but views her as having developed a new, third personality.
