Kobato Uehara finds herself without a place to go after learning of her mother's impending death. Her mother reveals she has an older brother working in the Japanese television industry. Resolute, Kobato travels to Japan to seek employment and locate her sibling. She collides with the idol Shinjou Takeru and, because of her appearance, is thrust into auditions. Her youth, looks, demeanor, voice, self-assurance, and dance abilities help her succeed. She and Takeru perform well at Fujishima Iori's auditions. Unfortunately, the agency mistakenly believes she is male based on her behavior.
