Terry Bogard, having bested Geese Howard, is next challenged by the German fighter Wolfgang Krauser, whom he loses to in a surprising manner. The defeat leaves Terry in a state of despair, leading him to a life of inactivity and excessive drinking. It is a young boy named Tony who manages to persuade Terry to regain his former strength, overcome his anxieties, and prepare for another confrontation with Krauser.
