Usagi Tsukino and her friends attend high school, maintaining normal lives. Mamoru Chiba, Usagi's boyfriend, is about to leave for a study abroad program in America. At the airport, after Mamoru proposes, he vanishes under mysterious circumstances. Usagi suppresses the memory of his disappearance. Later, Shadow Galactica, led by Sailor Galaxia, and the Sailor Starlights confront Usagi. The identity of the Starlights as friend or foe remains unclear. Sailor Galaxia strips the Sailor Guardians of their Sailor Crystals, their power source, and defeats them one by one.
