ef: a tale of memories.

A boy named Hiro encounters a girl named Miyako on Christmas Eve when her purse is stolen and she collapses after chasing the thief. Their bike is damaged in the incident, and they spend the day together. They later discover they attend the same school, and Miyako grows fond of Hiro. Hiro's childhood friend Kei, who has feelings for him, becomes envious, leading to a romantic conflict. Meanwhile, another character, Renji, meets Kei's shy twin sister, Chihiro, at a disused train station. Despite her shyness, they bond and meet regularly. Chihiro has a condition that causes her to lose her memories after 13 hours due to a past car accident. Renji learns of her goal to write a novel and decides to assist her in achieving it, despite the challenges her condition presents.
