King Kong: 00⅐ Tom Thumb

A researcher named Professor Bond conducts studies on an island in the Java Sea, where his son encounters a large ape and forms a bond with it. They work together to stop Dr. Who, who plans to exploit the ape. The series alternates between stories featuring King Kong and short comedic segments about Tom of T.H.U.M.B., a spy and his Asian assistant. Different animation staff, including MORI Yasuji and KANISHI Takao, were involved in the Tom of T.H.U.M.B. segments compared to the King Kong parts. The show was the first cartoon TV series fully animated in Japan for an American audience. According to American sources, Rankin-Bass commissioned the project from Videocraft International, while Japanese sources credit Videocraft/Toei Doga as the producers.
