William, a member of a noble family known for his exceptional intelligence, returns home after his uncle suffers financial ruin. Concerned about their family's reputation, he searches the estate with the family butler for assets to sell. During the search, they discover a hidden underground chamber left by a previous generation. Inside, William encounters a magical seal, which he inadvertently activates, summoning a devil named Dantalion. The devil informs William that he is a designator, someone capable of selecting the demon world's ruling figure.
