Kobeni receives an unexpected 16th birthday surprise—an arranged marriage to a stranger, a commitment set in motion by her late grandfather. Despite having met the groom, Hakuya, she recalls nothing about him. Her mother and sister show no shock when Hakuya and his sister, Mashiro, arrive to live with them. Strange behavior begins when they start attending Kobeni’s school. Mashiro’s fascination with aliens and mysterious creatures and Hakuya’s emotional detachment raise Kobeni’s suspicions.
