Patricia and Isobelle O'Sullivan move into St. Claire, a girls' college, to begin their studies. There, they meet Alison, Wella, Catherine, and Doris, who also reside at the school. The girls bond and spend time together playing games and enjoying each other's company. Their peaceful interactions are disrupted by the arrival of Winfred, a grumpy and unfriendly girl who is likely to cause problems for the twins and their friends.
