A Buddhist monk is tasked with retrieving sacred scriptures and is joined by a deity who reveals that a mischievous monkey deity, previously sealed in a mountain for causing chaos in Heaven, is now his disciple. The group also includes an alcoholic playboy, a former heavenly general, and a dragon prince serving as their steed. They encounter various challenges, including battles with monsters and bishounen competitions.
