Dai-9 Sabaku

A creature known as Hyudra, a living water that targets humans in motion, exists in a world where a great war a thousand years ago led to widespread desertification. Most of the planet became desert, forcing people to seek water by hunting Hyudra. There are eight known deserts in total. The narrative centers on Mao traveling to the ninth desert, a place of illusions, in search of his father. The series includes an additional chapter beyond the main story.
