Peleliu: Rakuen no Guernica

A group of Japanese soldiers endure the prolonged and deadly Battle of Peleliu during World War II. Tamaru, the main character, hopes to return home and become a manga artist, viewing the island as a potential setting for his future work. His fellow soldiers, however, face the grim reality that they may not survive the conflict. The manga was nominated for the 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
