Hiroshi Shiba is a skilled car racer whose father is killed after uncovering the Bronze Bell, an artifact from the ancient Yamatai Kingdom. Queen Himika, a ruler from that era, seeks the Bell to conquer Earth. Hiroshi inherits items from his father that allow him to transform into the giant mecha Steel Jeeg. With assistance from a computer containing his father's brain and a companion named Miwa "Micchi" Uzuki, he works to stop Himika's plans for global domination.
