This animated production was the first installment of Mushi Pro Land, a planned series of one-hour programs. It marked Japan’s debut one-hour animated television episode, though the series was never completed, with only this initial episode being broadcast. The narrative is based on Stevenson’s "Treasure Island," with animal characters representing the story’s figures. For instance, the pirate Silver is portrayed as a wolf, and the main character, Jim, is depicted as a rabbit. It is unrelated to "New Treasure Island," a notable manga by Tezuka Osamu.
