Tsushima Maru: Sayounara Okinawa

This anime is based on a book by Ooshiro Tatsuhiro and recounts the sinking of the Tsushima Maru, a freight ship transporting students in July 1944 after it was struck by an American submarine. Created by the families of those who perished, the film emphasizes realism, yet contrasts this with stylized, distorted character designs by Kiyomizu Kazutoshi.
