The desert fairy is a mythical creature that goes around gathering information about earth. She is a being called Star Seed, her mission being to travel through the universe spreading the seeds of life (genetic information of all creatures) on suitable planets, wait until they've evolved, then harvest new seeds to repeat the cycle. Kamui the wolf is Earth's harvester and, when the time comes, will give Star Seed, all of the DNA it has gathered.
