A high school student named Tohru Honda leaves home after experiencing a family tragedy and sets up a tent on land owned by the Sohma family. She is discovered and offered shelter by the family, who have a unique condition—contact with the opposite sex causes them to transform into animals associated with the Chinese Zodiac.
