A young woman named Amir, twenty years old, travels to a nearby town for marriage. Her initial surprise at discovering her husband, Karluk, is younger than her soon turns into affection for him and his family. Amir comes from a region beyond the mountains, where her people have distinct customs, food, and clothing different from Karluk’s. As they spend time together, they learn about each other’s ways of life, gradually building a relationship based on growing respect and love.
