[Twitter](https://twitter.com/ayanotakeda) Ayano Takeda is a Japanese novelist. She aspired to become a novelist when she first read Risa Wataya's *I Want to Kick You in the Back* (蹴りたい背中, *Keritai senaka*). She made her debut while she was a student at Doshisha University with the short novel *Kyou, Kimi to Iki wo Suru* (今日、きみと息をする。). A story about a high school art club. She submitted the novel to the 8th Japan Love Story Award sponsored by Takarajimasha. Her novel was selected as a finalist. Although it did not win the prize, it was later published in May 2013 in the Takarajimasha Bunko collection. In December 2013, she published her second debut novel *Sound! Euphonium: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band*. The novel was based on her days in the brass band club during elementary and junior high school. The novel was successful and spawned a manga and a popular anime series by [Kyoto Animation](https://anilist.co/studio/2/Kyoto-Animation). In 2021, she also won the 42nd Eiji Yoshikawa Literary Newcomer Award for her novel *Aisarenakute mo Betsuni* (愛されなくても別に). In 2016, she was appointed as a tourism ambassador for her hometown in Uji City. On September 25, 2022, she announced she got married to a man from outside the manga industry. On July 16, 2024, she announced the birth of her first son.
