After graduating the Tokyo Academy for Design, he was awarded the Kodansha Prize for Upcoming Authors, which is dedicated to the renowned mangaka Tetsuya Chiba. His first work, Bata-ashi Kingyo (Swimming Upstream) in Young Magazine was a great sucess in the second half of the 80s.
