There he collaborated with [Shouji Kawamori](https://anilist.co/staff/97501/) to direct his most famous work, [Vision of Escaflowne](https://anilist.co/anime/182/). After having left Sunrise in 2000, he joined [Satelight](https://anilist.co/studio/41/), where he created and directed the shows [Geneshaft](https://anilist.co/anime/909/), [HeatGuy J](https://anilist.co/anime/958/), and the most famous of the three, [Noein: To Your Other Self](https://anilist.co/anime/584/). Since then Akane has gone freelance. His more recent works include [Birdy the Mighty: Decode](https://anilist.co/anime/3974/) and [Stars Align](https://anilist.co/anime/104052/).
