Fumoon

Nuclear testing has led to the sudden emergence of the Fumoon, a small, intelligent humanoid species living on an island. Dr. Yamadano discovers them, but few believe him, aside from a few individuals such as detective Shinsaku Ban, Rock, Kenichi, and Kenichi's sister Pichi. The Fumoon are capturing animals globally, preparing to leave Earth in their spacecraft as they flee an impending disaster—a black gas cloud from a stellar explosion that will destroy the planet. They plan to leave humans behind, but one Fumoon, Rokoko, forms a bond with Kenichi and assists Dr. Yamadano, along with Dr. Ochanomizu and Dr. Frankenstein, in building a spaceship to enable some humans to escape.
