A mysterious environmental event 22 years ago in Kanazawa prefecture caused the land to rise and form a remote region known as The Lost Ground. Kazuma, a young mercenary, resides there, seeking work to survive in the unforgiving terrain. He possesses a rare ability called Alter, which enables him to coat his right arm and torso with a metallic alloy. After encountering HOLY, an organization that seeks to capture individuals with Native Alter abilities, Kazuma becomes involved in a significant conflict, particularly with Ryuho, one of HOLY's top operatives.
