The Paper Sisters arrive in a small town searching for a retired actor named John Smith, who possesses one of the British Library books. However, after Michelle's disappearance in a cafe, Maggie is arrested, accused of killing her. Anita is left alone and then nearly attacked by someone posing as Michelle. While Maggie breaks out of jail, Michelle frees herself from a coffin and finds herself in a writer's apartment, where she learns about Smith.
