Ayeka Masaki Jurai

She is the First Princess of the planet Jurai. By blood, she is the great-aunt of the protagonist, Tenchi.

A princess who had been searching for her fiancé—who was also her older half-brother, Youshou—after he went missing following a battle with Ryouko, a space pirate who had attacked Jurai. Driven by her longing for Youshou—and terrified by the fact that he was on the verge of being declared legally dead, leading to a flood of political marriage proposals that threatened to force her into a union against her will—she fled Jurai aboard her ship. She entrusted the ship's control to the Royal Tree governing the vessel and her personal guardians, Azaka and Kamidake, instructing them to "wake me up if you find a clue about my brother," before entering cold sleep and drifting through space as a self-imposed recluse.

She eventually arrived on Earth, where she encountered Ryouko—the very person responsible for her brother's disappearance—and was forced into combat. She, along with her younger sister Sasami, ended up living as a houseguest at Tenchi's home. At first, she clashed with Tenchi, unable to adjust to her new environment (and influenced by Tenchi telling her that "Youshou was my ancestor and passed away long ago"). However, experiencing Tenchi's kindness caused her to open her guarded heart.

She excels at sewing (since weaving is a major industry on Jurai, sewing is an essential skill for members of the royal family—though, in reality, the Royal Tree usually does the work), but she possesses absolutely no talent for cooking.

Though naive and ladylike, Ayeka possesses formidable hidden combat capabilities. She becomes hysterical when dealing with Ryouko—who is also her romantic rival—leading to constant bickering between the two. Despite this, they seem to get along surprisingly well; there are even scenes in the story where the two share drinks together.

...As can be glimpsed from numerous incidents—ranging from the episode involving her factor transformation to her flight from Jurai and the destruction of the Seto Bridge—she possesses a headstrong, impulsive nature that leaves her blind to the big picture. She is a natural-born "grave-digger" who has had a knack for causing all sorts of trouble since childhood.
