Minase Mai and Tomonari Kasumi collapsed in the real world after hearing a strange sound while playing the new MMORPG 'The World'. Mai recovered, but Kasumi fell into a coma. Mai later meets the game's creator, Tokuoka Junichiro, who reveals that six other players nationwide also collapsed during gameplay and are now in comas. The group seeks to uncover the nature of the game, the source of the sound, and the cause of the comas.
