The Classic Literature Club come up with the idea to catch the "Juumonji" (十文字) thief by using Houtarou's skills. Doing so will advertise the Classic Literature Club even further. Houtarou quickly figures out that the clubs affected by the thefts have been in alphabetical order (gojuuon). They also suspect that the items stolen also follow an alphabetical order. Finally, Houtarou tells the group to stop reading "十文字" as a student's surname ("Juumonji"); doing so reveals that "十文字" actually stands for "ten letters" ("juu moji").
