She made her debut in 1991 with "Massugu ni Ikou" in the November issue of "The Margaret" (Shueisha). Since then, she has published her works in "Bessatsu Margaret," "YOU," and "Chorus" (all by Shueisha). In 2000, she won the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the 4th Japan Media Arts Festival for "Massugu ni Ikou"
Her pen name came from Kirahime, a character from a novel she was reading before debuting.
