Akira Mochizuki is a Japanese mangaka. He debuted as a rental book manga artist with his work "Soumei Kassatsu-ken" in 1957. After the bankruptcy of Hinomaru Bunko, he returned home for some time, but then moved to Tokyo. He worked on many shoujo manga such as "Hanatsumi Nikki," "haha Yamabiko," "Shimai Sumire" and "Hana no Kanmuri," at Tokyo Manga Publishing Co., Ltd. Later on he worked on many famous titles for both Shoujo Friend and Weekly Shounen Champion.
