The UN Research Institute scientists examine Fusnarnie and find that his body and sword are similar to that of Kennosuke, including the installation of a neural interface. Fusnarnie says that he is a frontier Reform Officer in Efidolg's Gezon-Reco squad. Their aim is to bring prosperity to uncivilized planets and the objects they seek were left by an advance party 450 years ago. These are fragments of a 'hinge' stone that was broken when the advance party was wiped out by the wielder of the Black Glongur who betrayed them. Specialists from the UN's ET Research Bureau question Kennosuke about what happened 450 years ago and he tells of the arrival of the demons from the sky, their destruction of the Washiba Clan, and how fought with the princess in the Black Relic, and her death. He denies being part of the Efidolg's advance party but the UN remain suspicious. Meanwhile Fusnarnie escapes from his guards, and calls his Longarm geoframe. On his way out he encounters Yukina.
