Shinra and his unit uncover the Evangelist's objective: collecting Adolla Bursts from Shinra and Shou. Through conversations with Captain Burns, Shinra gains insight into his past, fueling his determination to uncover the truth about his mother and rescue Shou once more. However, a mysterious figure called the “First Pillar” exposes the Evangelist's larger scheme to trigger a new Great Cataclysm.
