During the Edo period in feudal Japan, a time of fragile peace, Jubei Kibagami travels the land as a hired ninja. Numerous ninja clans exist, including the Hiruko Clan, which lives in secrecy to guard the sacred Dragon Stone. The Kimon Clan seeks the artifact to restore the power of the Toyotomi. Jubei is tasked with protecting the Dragon Stone and the only individual capable of using it, known as the Light Maiden.
