An elderly market vendor named Heo Saeng-won spends his days in Bongpyeong village, where he meets a fellow peddler, Jo Seon-dal, and a young traveling vendor, Dong-i, at an inn. The three walk together under the moonlight among blooming buckwheat flowers, and Heo feels a unique connection with Dong-i. In another story, a servant works tirelessly in the fields, hoping to marry the man’s daughter as promised in exchange for his labor, but the man continually delays the wedding, claiming the girl is not yet grown. In frustration, the servant challenges the man to a final contest. Meanwhile, Kim, a rickshaw driver, ignores his wife’s serious illness and goes to work. He unexpectedly transports many customers in one day, but as the day ends, he feels a deep, unexplainable fear upon returning home.
