Match Uri no Shoujo

A young girl attempts to sell matches on a frigid December evening without success. To avoid the cold, she ignites a match, which reveals a striking vision. The film adaptation is derived from a tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It was finished in July 1967 but did not premiere until the 1971 “Toho Champion Matsuri” festival.
