Masaya, a first-grader who is large but emotionally sensitive, requires companionship on the dark walk to school. Akiyo, a second-grader who is small in stature but composed, walks with him, holding his hand. Masaya looks up to Akiyo and aspires to be as strong as she is. However, after an incident causes Akiyo to cry, Masaya decides to help cheer her up by traveling to the distant Ipponsugi forest to find spotted bellflowers, which she likes. The story is one of four films from the 2014 Anime Mirai project, supported by Japan's Agency of Cultural Affairs to train animators.
