Rennyo to Sono Haha

Rennyo played a central role in reviving Shin Buddhism in Japan, specifically the Honganji tradition, during a period of decline in the Middle Ages. At the age of six, his mother told him he was destined to restore the Honganji school, as its next inheritor, before she vanished from the temple. Inspired by her words, he embarked on a mission to promote the teachings despite coming from a life of poverty. At sixteen, he began traveling throughout the country to spread the faith.
