A Korean family's everyday life is depicted from 1978 to the early 1980s, focusing on five households. The narrative centers on Choi Ja-doo, a tomboy, and her family, which includes her father, a man who drinks, and her frugal mother. The family also consists of her intelligent sister and a brother known for causing trouble. A teacher named Lee Mi Ja and another teacher, Nam Ga On, are also part of the story.
