Arata naru Sekai: Gendai-hen

A message from the past, written in the handwriting of a friend, claims that a remaining classmate is responsible for humanity's extinction. The next day, I return to school, unsure how long it has been since my last visit. I am not entirely truthful when I say I came to find the person responsible, nor when I say it doesn't matter. A classmate calls me by the name Arata, though it is often misread as Shin. I ask her why she came, suggesting she is part of a group of students considered to be failures, a label that also applies to me.
