Awajima Hyakkei

A school for aspiring opera performers attracts young women from throughout the country, all striving for a future on stage. While they train, bonds of friendship and rivalry develop among the students, shaped by mutual admiration and underlying competition. The emotional dynamics between classmates who are also competitors are depicted through a group of characters, their relationships explored in delicate detail. The work, recognized with an Excellence Award at the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2015, presents these interactions with a focus on the personal and interpersonal experiences of its cast.
