Junnichi Asakura, a student at Kazami Academy on the crescent-shaped island of Hatsune, possesses the ability to see others' dreams while sleeping. He was taught by an elderly woman to use magic for making sweets. One night, he dreams of a childhood friend before being abruptly awakened by Nemu, his sister-like companion with whom he shares a close, sibling-like bond. The next day, Junnichi and Nemu attend school with their friends: Miharu Amakase, Kotori Shirakawa, and the twin sisters Moe and Mako Mizukoshi, who often eat lunch on the school roof. Their routine is interrupted when Yoshino Sakura, presumed to have moved to America, unexpectedly returns. She announces she has come back to fulfill a childhood promise.
