Eien no Nohara

A novelist named Kazuhime lives with her younger brother, Nitaro, a high school student who manages daily household tasks. After the death of their dog, Kaki, the Furuya family has remained petless until a new puppy named Mikan joins them. Mikan is wary of people, and Nitaro must navigate the challenges of caring for the skittish dog. The manga includes nine additional chapters and received the 15th Kodansha Manga Award in the Shoujo category in 1991.
